John Oxford, Professor of Virology at Queen Mary's
School of Medicine and Scientific Director of
Retroscreen Virology, who conducted the tests
on Avian Bird Flu and SARS said: "Following
rigorous testing in our laboratory I am happy
to confirm that Virusolve+ is highly effective
against two very important and dangerous viruses,
Avian Bird Flu and SARS. With a 99.9% kill rate,
we believe that the Virusolve product could have
a significant impact on destroying these viruses
in public places, on farms and in the home."
Adam Fraise, Director of the Hospital Infection
Research Laboratory, Birmingham, said: "Our
tests demonstrate that this product is effective
against MRSA within one minute of impact; reducing
the number of live MRSA organisms by more than
100,000 times."
Jean Lawrence, Chair, of the UK Infection Control
Nurses Association (ICNA), said: "A product
that is non-toxic and effective against MRSA could
offer significant benefits including the ability
to decontaminate wards and other clinical settings
without expensive closures. Hospitals and community
healthcare environments face significant challenges
in the battle against MRSA and other micro-organisms.
Obviously a product which is non-toxic and environmentally
friendly is safer for use in areas where patient
care is being carried out."
Virusolve
has the potential to have a significant impact
on the growing challenge of infection control
and prevention worldwide. In addition to making
important contribution to the fight against hospital
acquired infection, this product has potential
to be used in both
public and private spaces to help prevent the
spread of pandemics like Avian Bird Flu and SARS,
and maintain a clean and safe environment.
Virusolve, launched February 2006, is the first
non-toxic cleaner disinfectant. It is scientifically
proven to be highly effective against a wide spectrum
of bacteria, viruses and fungi including: Avian
Bird Flu, SARS, MRSA, Noro Virus, Hepatitis B/C
and Tuberculosis.
Virusolve offers powerful cleaning and protection
in a single, non-toxic, environmentally safe product
suitable for medical, commercial or household
use.
Virusolve is ideal for use in the front line
of infection control, with applications ranging
from preventing the spread of MRSA and other superbugs
in hospitals to stopping the spread of Avian Bird
Flu, SARS and other pandemics in public places.
"Virusolve is the product of a twenty-year
research programme to realise the vision of total
bacterial, fungal and viral disinfection. This
is the killer application we have been searching
for; as well as being a powerful and non-toxic
cleaner, it kills our most feared and dangerous
infections. We aim to turn the cleaning industry
on its head - with a product as powerful and safe
as Virusolve - why would anyone use any other
cleaner?"
Virusolve is packaged as floor cleaner, surface
cleaner, impregnated wipes and liquid soap and
can also be used in vaporizers for cleaning and
decontaminating large air spaces. The product
is safe for use with no special precautions because
it is as non-toxic as ordinary household soap.
The product is available to medical and commercial
customers in the UK with immediate effect.
About Virusolve
Virusolve works by irreversibly binding, penetrating
and immobilising bacteria, viruses and fungi so
that they cannot replicate, leaving surfaces disinfected
and safe to use. In addition to providing powerful
infection control for clinical environments such
as hospitals, clinics, dental surgeries and nursing
homes.
Virusolve's powerful cleaning and disinfecting
properties make it ideal for use in any environment
where good hygiene is important - from schools,
leisure centres, offices, supermarkets and catering/food
preparation areas to hotels, airports and aircraft,
cruise ships and oil rigs.
Safety and environmental concerns
Virusolve+ is completely harmless to humans and
animals at optimum operational strengths. It requires
little additional training and no specialist protective
workwear or gear. Even when used in an atomiser
spray for quick application, it carries negligible
risk.
The residues left behind by Virusolve+ application
continue to protect between treatments, but pose
no health implications for humans.
Virusolve+ is biodegradable and if used within
manufacturers guidelines is not detrimental to
the environment.
